Winter is the most threatening season for animals. The sweet water that brings life turns into deadly ice, there is no food wherever you look, small animals get quickly frozen or eaten when they come out of their cold little dens, and even the wind is aggressive and evil, bringing only death in the shape of frost.
So, in the rage of winter, even the eyes of the great predator, the wolf, seem kind. A warm gaze that gives hope to the pack, a gaze that says "there is always Spring, after the Winter".

She does have a very serene look about her; something in the set of her eyes, and the soft edges of her smile. Winter's always my least favorite season; even without personifying it, I can't stand the cold.
